IT Training
A division of Southampton's largest homelessness charity, Jamie's core objective is to provide meaningful occupation to socially isolated adults in Southampton.
Learning Zone
Our funded Learning Zone is available for use by this group, five days a week. Service users are able to access our computers for private use, such as sending and receiving e-mail, using the Internet and word processing. Courses and workshops are also available – listed to the right.
Not only do we provide these opportunities to our own client group, but we have also extended programmes to other groups across the city.
Training
Adult & Community Learning
We have delivered several courses to adult learners at Cantell Community Learning & Sports Centre. These have included Build Your Own PC, PC Maintenance and Introduction to Web Design, and courses have been run during the daytime and in the evening.
Young People Leaving Care
We have worked with Southampton Social Services Pathways Leaving Care Team to engage young people leaving the care system. We delivered Build Your Own PC to five learners who were then able to keep the computers they had built.
Pupil Referral Units
We have formed a positive working relationship with our local pupil referral units, the Melbourne Centre key stage 4 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) and its sister key stage 3 PRU the Compass Centre. We delivered a series of five courses of Build Your Own PC to youngsters who were unable to access mainstream education.
